PROVENANCE
This piece is made using sikki grass, a natural fiber native to Bihar, India, traditionally used by women artisans to craft baskets, trays, and decorative objects. The signature golden tone of sikki grass is complemented by hand-dyed detailing, woven into a sharp triangular pattern inspired by regional motifs and age-old weaving techniques. It’s a piece that carries the stories of skilled hands and slow craft.

PROCESS
Each mat is meticulously handwoven by women artisans in Bihar using dried and dyed sikki grass. The natural fibers are softened, coiled, and bound into form with a needle like tool called “takua”. The dark teal accent is added using dyed grass strands, carefully incorporated to create a bold yet balanced border. Because it is handmade, no two pieces are exactly alike - each one is a one-of-a-kind expression of craft.
