This pillow cover embodies the spirit of folk art and makes an engaging addition to any room.
Warli art originated in Maharashtra, India and is still practiced today. The art is created by the Warli tribe and is known for its simplistic images that depict the tribe's way of life, beliefs, and customs. The paintings are usually created on the inside walls of village huts which are made of a mixture of branches, earth and red brick that make a red ochre background for the paintings. The Warli only paint with a white pigment made from a mixture of rice flour and water, with gum as a binder. Keeping the same color scheme, we have used a warm terracotta hue against a crisp white background in this design.
